Twitter and who to follow

I believe that Twitter has a lasting place in the world of information overload because, if you follow the right sources, they can filter for you the things they look at and think are important. If they can tell you what something is about in 140 characters (and actually that is a lot) you can decide what you want to pursue. In this category, VentureHacks might be worth following on Twitter.

I'm not so sure if Twitter in it's current form has a great future in the world of information overload - for now it generates too much noise...

You are right that the right sources CAN be useful as a filter for you, but only if they are VERY disciplined and "on-topic".

If Twitter could implement some sort of category where people could mark their "twitterings" according to content, and you could subscribe to only those categories, it would help a lot. As of now, you must hope that the ones you follow stay on-topic (and that is NOT my experience - maybe it should give it a new try soon...).

We need a better Twitter than the Twitter we have now...
